Using Compact/C with Cellular and Cordless Phones

Now you can enjoy wireless telephone access! Just connect the Compact/C to any compatible cellular phone and enjoy the convenience of wireless calling anytime, anywhere.  Designed specifically for use with select digital cell phones, the Compact/C connects directly to the jack of compatible phones for easy calling on the go.

Advantages of Cellular TTY Calling

Here's How Easy It Is:

  1. Plug the large end of the cable into the audio jack of the Compact/C.
  2. Plug the small end of the cable into the audio jack of your cell phone.
  3. Turn on your cell phone. Make sure you have a strong signal on the phone.
  4. Turn on the Compact/C and press the spacebar.
  5. Dial the number of the person you are calling on the cell phone.

Which Cellular Phones Work?

Because the cellular phone industry changes phone models and features very frequently, it is impossible to list every cellular phone model that is compatible with TTYs.  When you buy a cellular phone, make sure it meets the following criteria:

  1. It is a digital cellular phone
  2. It includes a 2.5 mm audio or “hands-free” jack
  3. Make sure it has “TTY Mode” or “TTY Option” in its menu system.

Calling with Cordless Telephones

You can also use cordless phones with the Compact/C.   Just connect the TTY to the 2.5mm “hands free” audio jack found on many cordless phone models.  Turn on the telephone, then turn on the TTY and press the spacebar.  Dial the number of the person you are calling on the cordless phone, and enjoy your conversation!
