How do I call people who don’t have a TTY?

A: You can call people who do not have a TTY on their end (they use a standard telephone) by using the free Telecommunications Relay Service (TRS). With TRS, simply dial 711 on your TTY, then give the Communications Assistant who answers the 10-digit telephone number of the person you wish to call. The Communication Assistant stays on the line and reads aloud everything you type on the TTY for the other person to hear on their standard telephone. When the other person replies, the Communications Assistant types everything they say for you to read on your TTY display.
